Frequently asked questionsAnswers on durability, logos & more
Will the sign hold up in a hospitality setting?
Yes. Our LED neon signs are long-lasting and low-maintenance. For sheltered outdoor or shop-window areas, we'll choose the right specification.
Can you turn my café or restaurant logo into neon?
Of course. Send us your logo or lettering – you'll get a free design preview first.
Which parts light up in LED neon?
Short lettering and clean logos are fully realised in LED neon. For very fine details or very small formats, an element may instead be produced in UV print – you'll see this transparently in your free design preview before production starts.

Which signs does a restaurant or café need?
Most hospitality venues get by with three or four signs, and they work best when planned together:
| Where | Our recommendation | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Above the entrance | Illuminated letters or a lightbox | Your name is readable from the street, even in the evening. |
| At right angles to the frontage | Projecting sign | People on the pavement see you before they reach the window. |
| At the bar or in the dining room | LED neon sign | Creates atmosphere and becomes the backdrop for your guests' photos. |
| Windows and door | Graphics as part of your shop front sign | Opening hours and logo, matched to the fascia. |
Tips for hospitality lighting
- Match the light colour to your concept: warm white and amber feel cosy in restaurants, cafés and bakeries. Bold pink, red or blue suits bars, cocktail lounges and street food.
- Plan a photo wall: a quote or your logo at eye level behind a banquette quickly becomes your guests' favourite backdrop, and free advertising.
- Dim for the evening: a dimmer lets you run the sign bright by day and softer at night.
- Terraces: splash-proof LED neon is available for covered outdoor areas. On an exposed frontage we use illuminated letters or a lightbox.
Planning permission, installation and process
Neon signs for inside the venue plug in, so you can hang them yourself. Signs on the outside of the building, on the other hand, often need advertisement consent from your council. We supply a dimensioned drawing and a visual for your application. Everything arrives with fixings and instructions, and the mains connection is made by a qualified electrician. If you don't have an installer, we can help you find one near you. See our installation guide, and compare every sign type in our overview.
Frequently asked questions
Which light colour suits my restaurant?
Warm white and amber feel cosy and suit restaurants, cafés and bakeries. Bold pink, red or blue suits bars, cocktail lounges and street food.
Can a neon sign go on the terrace?
Yes, in a splash-proof version for covered areas. For an exposed frontage we recommend illuminated letters or a lightbox.
What do I need for my restaurant frontage?
Usually illuminated letters or a lightbox above the entrance, plus a projecting sign so people on the pavement see you too.
Can you plan the outside and inside signs together?
Yes. We plan every sign together so colours and logo match, and show you everything first in the design preview.
Do I need planning permission?
Often, for signs on the outside of the building – especially illuminated ones or in conservation areas. Check with your council first; we supply the drawing and visual.
Do you install the signs?
As standard you get everything your installer needs. If you don't have one, we can help you find a sign fitter near you.
