Where does it work best?Mirror wall, storefront & reception

The most popular spots: above the mirror wall (in every client's eyeline – and every selfie), in the storefront window as an eye-catcher from outside, at reception behind the till. In a hair salon, a neon sign isn't just decor – it's your branding, the thing clients photograph and share.

Which signs does a barbershop need?

Barbershops live on walk-ins, so the view from outside matters as much as the atmosphere inside:

Tips for barbers and hairdressers

  • Neon above, not in front of, the mirror: hang the sign above the mirrors so it doesn't dazzle client or barber. A dimmer lets you fine-tune the brightness.
  • Classic colours: red, blue and white nod to barbershop tradition; warm white suits wood and leather.
  • Logos with scissors or razors: we make symbols like these as contour-cut neon or as a projecting sign in your logo shape.
  • Selfie backdrop: a quote on the wall behind the chair ends up in lots of client photos.

Planning permission, installation and process

Indoor neon signs plug in. The projecting sign and other signs on the outside often need advertisement consent from your council; we supply the drawing and visual. Everything arrives with fixings and instructions, and the mains connection is made by a qualified electrician. If you don't have an installer, we can help you find one near you. More in our installation guide and our overview of all sign types.

Frequently asked questions

Which colours suit a barbershop?

Red, blue and white nod to barbershop tradition. Warm white suits interiors with wood and leather.

Will a neon sign above the mirror dazzle?

Not if it hangs above the mirrors. The dimmer lets you set the brightness just right.

Can the projecting sign be in my logo shape?

Yes. We also make projecting signs contour-cut, for example as scissors or your logo.

Can you plan inside and outside signs together?

Yes. We coordinate projecting sign, fascia and indoor neon and show you everything first in the design preview.

Do I need planning permission for the projecting sign?

Often, yes – especially if it's illuminated or projects over the pavement. We supply the drawing and visual for your application.

Do you install the signs?

As standard you get everything your installer needs. If you don't have one, we can help you find a sign fitter near you.
