Which signs does a medical practice need?
In a practice or clinic, signage should build trust and help people find their way, without being loud:
| Where | Our recommendation | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Frontage or entrance | Stainless steel letters or a lightbox | Professional by day, visible in the evening if you want. |
| Beside the entrance door | Flat cut letters or stainless steel letters | Name and speciality, clear and lasting. |
| Reception | Halo-lit logo | Calm, glare-free light and a premium first impression. |
| Waiting room | Moss logo sign | Calming, and it softens noise. |
Tips for practices and clinics
- Cleaning and disinfection: stainless steel is robust and easy to wipe. Clean acrylic with a mild cleaner and soft cloth instead, because alcohol-based products can cause fine cracks in acrylic.
- Glare-free, not bright: halo light feels calm and suits practice rooms better than coloured neon.
- Moss in the right place: yes in the waiting room, better not in treatment rooms with hygiene requirements.
- Consistent across sites: we make the same design for every practice in a group.
Planning permission, installation and process
Signs on the outside of the building often need a permit from your local planning authority, and for practices in rented premises your landlord's approval too. We supply a dimensioned drawing and a visual for your application. Everything arrives with fixings, a drilling template and instructions. If you don't have an installer, we can help you find one near you. More in our installation guide and our overview of all sign types.
Frequently asked questions
Can I disinfect the signs?
Stainless steel is robust and easy to wipe down. Clean acrylic with a mild cleaner and soft cloth instead, because alcohol-based products can cause fine cracks in acrylic.
Which sign suits a practice entrance?
Stainless steel or flat cut letters with your name and speciality look professional and last. If the entrance should be visible in the evening, a lightbox works well.
Is a moss logo hygienic in a practice?
In the waiting room it's a lovely, calming option. In treatment rooms with hygiene requirements we recommend smooth, wipeable surfaces.
Can you fit out every practice in our group the same way?
Yes. We make the same design for multiple sites, in the right size for each.
Do I need planning permission?
Often, for signs on the outside of the building. We supply the drawing and visual for your application.
Do you install the signs?
As standard you get everything your installer needs. If you don't have one, we can help you find a sign fitter near you.
