What makes 3D Letter Signs work

3D letter signs are dimensional letters and logos with real material depth of 1 to 10 cm. They cast shadows, feel sculptural and give your company name a presence in reception, in store or on the facade that flat lettering can’t match.

We fabricate 3D letters from solid acrylic, aluminium or lightweight composite – painted, brushed or in metal finishes. Optionally with LED as face-lit or halo-lit letters. Send us your logo and a photo of the location and we’ll create a free design preview.

Choosing depth and size

Depth is what makes the 3D effect. Indoors, 1–3 cm is enough because people stand close and every millimetre of shadow shows. On a facade you need 5–10 cm, or the letters look flat from a distance. For height, the usual rule applies: about 1 cm of letter height per metre of reading distance.

One detail that's often missed: the deeper the letter, the bolder the typeface should be. Very thin typefaces at a large depth quickly look like a row of narrow sticks. We check this in the design preview.

Floating or flush to the wall?

On stand-offs, the letters sit a little in front of the wall. They seem to float and cast an extra shadow that strengthens the 3D effect. It's the more premium option, but it needs drilling.

With adhesive mounting, they sit directly on the wall. That's quicker, needs no drilling at all, and suits smooth interior walls and exhibition walls.

A full-size drilling template is included, so every letter lands exactly where it should. Most tradespeople can manage this without a specialist sign fitter. If you don't have an installer, we can help you find one near you.

3D letters or illuminated letters?

3D letters work through material and shadow. They need no power and no electrician, which makes them ideal for interiors and for facades that don't need to glow in the evening. If your name should be visible at night, illuminated letters are the right choice, or for a reception a halo-lit logo.

Not sure yet? We can prepare the letters so LED can be added later. Just tell us in your request. For flat lettering in 3–20 mm acrylic there are flat cut letters, and for real metal our stainless steel letters.

How deep should the letters be?

Acrylic or aluminium?

Acrylic for colour and interiors, aluminium for a metal look and outdoor use. Composite letters are the light, economical option for large formats.

Can I add lighting later?
