What is a neon sign?LED neon vs. classic glass neon
A neon sign is a glowing sign carrying your text, logo or symbol. Traditionally these were made exclusively from classic glass neon – hand-bent glass tubes filled with gas. We use the modern alternative: LED neon flex on a contour-cut acrylic backboard. The difference shows immediately:
- LED neon: shatterproof, energy-efficient, instantly and evenly bright with no warm-up, low voltage – safe for the home, long lifespan
- Classic glass neon: fragile glass, high energy consumption, high voltage, labour-intensive craftsmanship, usually more expensive to buy and maintain

Buying a custom neon sign: what to look for
Neon signs are everywhere now, from off-the-shelf designs to made-to-order pieces. In product photos they look similar; on your wall the difference shows. These six points separate a sign you'll enjoy for years from one that flickers after a few months:

What size should your neon sign be?
The most common disappointment when buying a neon sign: it looks smaller on the wall than expected. So before you order, tape a sheet of paper or some painter's tape to the wall at the planned size. As a guide:

With long text and script fonts, the bigger the sign, the more detail can be formed as a glowing neon line. Very fine elements are UV-printed instead. The design preview shows exactly what lights up and what's printed.
Colors, dimmer and RGB
Choose from over 12 standard colors. Warm white and amber feel cozy at home and in cafés; bold pink, red or blue suits bars, gaming setups and events. The remote dims your neon sign steplessly. RGB is available on request. Worth knowing: with RGB the whole sign changes color together, not individual letters.
Where and how is the neon sign mounted?
- On the wall with stand-offs: the sign floats a little in front of the wall – the classic for living rooms, bars and lobbies.
- Hung on wires: ideal for a storefront window or in front of glass.
- Adhesive mounting: on smooth surfaces, with no drilling at all.
Every neon sign runs on a plug-in adapter, so you don't need an electrician. Splash-proof versions are available for covered outdoor areas. Our installation guide walks through it step by step.
