Which signs does a barbershop need?
Barbershops live on walk-ins, so the view from outside matters as much as the atmosphere inside:
| Where | Our recommendation | Why |
|---|---|---|
| At right angles to the storefront | Blade sign, ideally in your logo shape | Walk-in clients spot you from far down the sidewalk. |
| Above the entrance | Channel letters or a light box | Your name, easy to read at night too. |
| Above the mirror wall | LED neon sign with logo or lettering | The backdrop for your clients' before-and-after photos. |
| At reception | Metal letters or a halo-lit logo | Looks premium and timeless. |
Tips for barbers and hair salons
- Neon above, not in front of, the mirror: hang the sign above the mirrors so it doesn't dazzle client or barber. A dimmer lets you fine-tune the brightness.
- Classic colors: red, blue and white nod to barbershop tradition; warm white suits wood and leather.
- Logos with scissors or razors: we make symbols like these as contour-cut neon or as a blade sign in your logo shape.
- Selfie backdrop: a quote on the wall behind the chair ends up in lots of client photos.
Permits, installation and process
Indoor neon signs plug in. The blade sign and other exterior signs almost always need a sign permit from your city; we supply the drawing and visual. Everything arrives with mounting hardware and instructions, and illuminated signs are hardwired by a licensed electrician. If you don't have an installer, we can help you find one near you. Frequently asked questions
Which colors suit a barbershop?
Red, blue and white nod to barbershop tradition. Warm white suits interiors with wood and leather.
Will a neon sign above the mirror dazzle?
Not if it hangs above the mirrors. The dimmer lets you set the brightness just right.
Can the blade sign be in my logo shape?
Yes. We also make blade signs contour-cut, for example as scissors or your logo.
Can you plan inside and outside signs together?
Yes. We coordinate blade sign, storefront and indoor neon and show you everything first in the design preview.
Do I need a permit for the blade sign?
Almost always – especially if it's illuminated or projects over the sidewalk. We supply the drawing and visual for your application.
Do you install the signs?
As standard you get everything your installer needs. If you don't have one, we can help you find a sign installer near you.
